How to Reach Chandigarh Airport

Chandigarh International Airport (IXC), officially Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, sits at Jhiurheri village on the Mohali side of the Chandigarh Tricity. Here's how to get there from some of the nearby cities travellers most commonly ask about.

From Delhi

By road, Chandigarh is roughly 250-260 km from Delhi via NH44, typically a 5-6 hour drive depending on traffic, with regular Volvo/AC bus services also running this route. By rail, several trains connect New Delhi and Chandigarh railway station in around 3.5-4.5 hours; from there it's a short local taxi ride to the airport. Flying is the fastest option at under an hour, when direct flights are operating on this sector.

From Amritsar

Amritsar to Chandigarh is approximately 230 km via NH44, around 4.5-5 hours by road. Direct trains also run between Amritsar and Chandigarh. There is currently no direct flight between the two cities, so road or rail are the practical options.

From Shimla

Shimla to Chandigarh is about 115-120 km via NH5, generally a 3.5-4.5 hour drive given the hill roads. This route is served by shared taxis, private cabs, and HRTC/Punjab Roadways buses. There is no rail or direct flight link between Shimla and Chandigarh, so road transport is the main option.

From within Chandigarh, Mohali & Panchkula

If you're already in the Tricity, the airport is a short local trip. See our Airport Guide for taxi and bus details, and About Mohali for local transport options within the city.

Once you've arrived, check live flight status or train schedules before you travel.
